Welcome!

Greetings,

On November 12, 1922, seven trailblazing, God-fearing women came together to create, what I consider to be, the best sorority in the world. Just doors away from what was one of the most active chapters of the Ku Klux Klan, these seven illustrious women founded Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Since its inception, Sigma Gamma Rho has been unique. It is the only Black Greek-lettered Sorority to be founded at a predominately white institution. The seven women who founded the organization were not undergraduates but were professional women leading impactful lives as educators.

Given this background, Sigma Gamma Rho has been singularly focused on enhancing the quality of life for women and their families in the areas of education, health awareness, and leadership development. Over the years, as the organization has evolved into what it is today, its members across the country and internationally have never lost sight of its commitment to “Greater Service, Greater Progress.”

In particular, Beta Psi Sigma has worked to serve the Long Island community since its inception in 2007. Beta Psi Sigma is committed to service, sisterhood, and scholarship on Long Island. By implementing the Sorority's Five Essential Programs, we work to serve the Long Island community as mandated by our Sorority's mission statement.

For the Seven,

Centennial Basileus, Jennifer Saint-Preux, Esq.
